Weekend Coffee Share is a time for us to take a break out of our lives and enjoy some timely catching up with friends (old and new)! If we were having coffee, I’d tell you about the talk i heard last night. My neighbor, Art Muir gave a talk about his Everest climb. At 75, Art’s the oldest American to reach the summit. He started mountain climbing at age 68 and has climbed several other high mountains. He first attempted Everest in 2019, but was injured and had to turn back. This time he made it. His photos ad videos were stunning. His narrative was witty, humble and fascinating. I did discover another glorious church with stunning architecture, St. Gregory the Great. Built in 1924, the current building exemplifies the influence of Medieval Gothic (aka English Gothic). It’s a gem with a dedicated, albeit small, multicultural community. St Gregory the Great, 5545 N. Paulina, Chicago I’m delighted that people have recommended more special churches to visit. This week I found...
If we were having coffee, or in my case tea, I'd say it was a quiet but good week. Sunday was Palm Sunday and I went to church with my parents. Usually, the scripture readings are dramatized with different priests and the congregation reading different parts. At this church they had a parishioner who's a professional actor. I had a job interview for a short term teacher training/English workshop in Albania. The students will be Afghan women and it'll last about 6 weeks. I don't know anything about Albania so if I get an offer and I accept, I'll have to look into the country. I'm pretty zen-like about the job. It sounds like this NGO is organized and professional. I'm not sure what the pay is as the interviewers said they'd tell the chosen teachers that when they offer the po...
This week's prompt has inspired me to digitally dig through the internet archives looking for nostalgic car ads from the past. Here's what I found. I'm surprised children wanted comfort. I would think they'd love having the wind blow through their hair, that feeling of speed. Don't forget. Ford wasn't the first car. Mercedes Benz was and here's an early ad. I had no idea this is what the world's first car looked like. What a difference 50 years make! I miss how colorful cars used to be.
A nice historical mural. It appears to be huge! Thanks for participating in Monday Murals.
ReplyDeleteEarly history. Love it. It reminds me of the trek along the Santa Fe Trail. It's a beauty indeed.
