No Fixed Plans

  Weekend Coffee Share is a time for us to take a break out of our lives and enjoy some timely catching up with friends (old and new)! If we were having coffee, I'd tell you that it's been a busy week and a time to see friends from out of town. On Tuesday I had dinner with a friend who's visiting from France. I hadn't seen Kristi or her son since December 2019 before the lockdown. I'm glad she was able to come here since her mother and stepdad hadn't seen their grandson since then.  Last night my high school friends had a mini-reunion because a friend was in town from Georgia. About 10 of us were invited to a fun evening at a fellow alumna's home. I hadn't seen many of these women in years. All are doing well and I was reminded of funny stories I had forgotten or had never heard. I'm having trouble getting a letter from my former employer Clark University, which I need for my SBA job. I just need a verification and I'm on to my fourth person. ...

If we were having coffee, we'd be outside enjoying the sunshine and the not too hot day.  I'd tell you that Wednesday I went to the Chicago History Museum to do more research on Marion Drake and her race against the infamous Bathhouse John. I'm spoiled with the online databases. At the museum, I had to use microfilm and go through every page of the old newspapers to find relevant stories. The problem is so many quirky stories or cute cartoons pull me in so it's very time consuming. Tuesday the family gathered for dinner at Tufano's near the University of Illinois, Chicago. It's a neat part of town and this homey Italian place has lots of good food. The occasion was to meet my niece's boyfriend who's visiting. He's a fine young man majoring in Pre-Med.
