Weekend Coffee Share

If we were having coffee, I'd have to make it quick this week. It's been hectic. I'm just getting to this post late Sunday after cooking and cleaning up for Mother's Day dinner. My sister-in-law, her mother, and her son came as did my brother, his wife and son. Of course, my parents were here. All went well, but it kept me busy.

Yesterday I went to my aunt and cousin's annual Kentucky Derby party. The weather wasn't as good here as last year, but we were inside this year anyway. (Last year their favorite tavern had shelter's outside on the closed off street due to COVID. It was actually quite festive. Now the city won't permit them. What a shame.) No one I knew won, but the man who did got $375! Lots of women wore hats or fascinators, which added to the fun.

I started substitute teaching a week ago Friday. I filled in for the library in the junior high and that went well. Monday I worked half a day at the school for grades 3 - 5. Again I signed up to work in the library, but the moved me to the Spanish class. Oy vey! I wish they had let me know so I could brush up on my Spanish. I was glad that it was only half a day. I took Tuesday off to recover and worked Wednesday half a day in a first grade as an aide. This class had 2 aides so it was smooth sailing. Friday I taught 8th grade social studies. I'm gong to think twice before teaching 8th graders for a full day at the end of the school year. Originally, I thought I'd try to teach every day, but now I think 2 or 3 days a week are enough.

Tuesday I had an interview with a head hunter who saw my resume online. That went fine, but I think I quoted her too high a salary. I haven't heard from her. That's okay. The amount I told her isn't a fortune so I'm not going to work for less. Tomorrow I have another phone interview to substitute for the archdiocese schools. I'm curious, but also think it might not be worth adding an employer since the school year is winding down.

Hope you had a good Mother's Day weekend!
