Sepia Saturday
Every week Sepia Saturday inspires bloggers with a visual prompt. This week we have a lovely portrait from the National Library of Norway.
My Great Aunt, Elizabeth Holland
My sister-in-law's mother who died July 3, 2021
So many of her 7 kids and 20 grandchildren have those very eyes.
My godmother and aunt, Ruth Bolen

Lovely women!
ReplyDeleteIndeed. Thank you.
DeleteAll three women are beautiful with those wonderful eyes, but your Aunt Ruth also has a gorgeous head of hair! I wonder if the waves were natural or encouraged?
ReplyDeleteI don't know about the waves. By the time I was born her hair was short and now she's gone. When it was short it had waves.
DeleteVery pretty portraits. However I find the oval vignette style with faded background very limiting for dating a photo. Other than hair, there are too few clues.
ReplyDeleteAgreed. People need to think ahead.
DeleteI enjoyed seeing these beautiful women's portraits, but was a bit sad to see the very recent loss of Joan Dunne. It's always a shock to have someone in the family die, and then there's all the funeral trappings. I'm of an age when a lot of my friends are passing on to wherever is next, and am so grateful for each time I meet with some of my elder friends to enjoy each day we have.
ReplyDeleteEach of these portraits captures their subject beautifully. There is a certain ethereal quality to the first and last portraits -- although Mr. Mike has a point about making them harder to date without a background.
